In an endeavor to make Los Angeles the most sustainable and green city in America, LA Police has announced its acquisition of Tesla Model S P85D and BMW i3 to its fleet of patrol cars. While the LA Police believes that electric vehicles helps save the environment, it is also a good choice to track crime in the most sophisticated way as these vehicles are quick and quiet, just right for the Police.
The LA Police has already acquired 23 electric scooters and three electric motorcycles for use by patrol officers. In the future, it aims to lease out a significant number of electric cars and plug-in hybrids for other major departments as fire, general services and water & power to make the city energy and economically efficient.
